Case Study

Burns & McDonnell

Engineering firm Burns & McDonnell selected BOXX Modular to provide offices and workforce housing as part of a multi-year project with SaskPower and the engineering firm Burns & McDonnell to build the new Great Plains Power Station in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Online since 2023, it can generate enough electricity to power a city the size of Saskatoon.

30,000 sq. ft.

BOXX Modular provided over 50 units, ranging from single-wide trailers and lavatories to complexes up to 11 units wide, about 30,000 sq ft of total space. 

Key Partnership

This project was awarded through Whitecap Black Diamond, our majority Indigenous-owned partnership with Whitecap Dakota First Nation.

Multi-Use

Buildings will be used for offices, lunchrooms, first aid rooms, and more. Smaller buildings were completed in 2-3 days, and complexes took 7-10 days.   

Job Creation

During construction, the project will employ an average of 230 workers a year, with over 500 workers on-site at its peak. The project is meant to last 2.5 years.
