A Squamish Nation elementary school needed dedicated space to support teachers and staff, with site challenges necessitating an innovative approach to any additions.
With no space inside their current building, the teachers and administration staff of a Squamish Nation elementary school didn't have any lunch or break space to call their own.
Site restrictions, including limited space on schoolgrounds for new construction and an inability to plumb any additional washrooms to main sanitary lines, made planning additional space challenging.
Squamish Nation chose BOXX Langley to help plan and execute a unique solution to these space needs.

SmartSpace: The Perfect Space Solution
Due to the limited space available on their schoolgrounds, our Langley space experts knew that SmartSpace, with its innovative and stackable design, would be the perfect solution to add some space to this elementary school.
With streamlined installation and compact, easy to maneuver units, service teams would be able to quickly set-up the new building with minimal disturbances to the surrounding environment.

Delivering a First-of-Its-Kind Configuration
Our team planned and delivered an 5 unit, 2 floor SmartSpace configuration catered to the schools' needs, positioning it conveniently next to the current school building and overlooking the playground.
To overcome the plumbing challenge, an 8' x 20' combo tank (including both waste and water) matching the design of the main SmartSpace building was included to provide necessary hot, running water and sanitation.
Add-on features took advantage of the surrounding scenery to provide teachers and staff with next level comfort, including:
An outdoor, upper level balcony / viewing deck
Large, floor-to-ceiling windows allowing playground visibility
Three built-in washrooms: one on the top floor, and two on the bottom
What Made This SmartSpace Project the 'First-of-Its-Kind?'
This was our first SmartSpace building featuring built-in washrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows, adding a new level of convenience and usability to SmartSpace's capabilities and an overall bright and airy feel to the finished space.
