When West Moberly First Nations outgrew their existing office space, they came to our Prince George team for an upgrade.
When their expanding team outgrew their existing space, a 24' x 60' office complex, West Moberly First Nations (WMFN) asked our Prince George team for help with an upgrade. They required additional office space, lunchrooms, and bathroom facilities as well as full accessibility in their new, expanded facility—all features our team can quickly and easily deliver.
Quick Facts
Client: West Moberly First Nations Industry: Indigenous Governance Location: Moberly Lake, BC Building Use: Office & Lunchroom Space Project Size: 2800 sq. ft
However, no project is without its challenges. Due to soil conditions on site, a geotechnical investigation was conducted. Based on the findings, special considerations were required for the building's foundation to ensure integrity and safety. Existing infrastructure, such as a propane tank and inactive hydro poles, needed to be addressed to allow precise placement of the complex and building safety.
Our Prince George branch designed and delivered a larger, more functional modular complex tailored to meet WMFN's new requirements, ensuring improved comfort and efficiency for their operations. The new office is located on the scenic shores of Moberly Lake, giving the WMFN team a beautiful view of the water as they work, with a wheelchair ramp installed at the building's entrance for full accessibility.
Addressing Challenges and Ensuring Safety
The new, 48' x 60' office complex was installed on a specifically engineered foundation, including anchored blocking, to address the concerns found during the geotechnical investigation. Due to ignition concerns, our team assisted with relocating an existing propane tank a safe distance away from the complex's climate control units. As well, decommissioned hydro posts that were no longer connected to the power grid were removed to ensure building placement was in accordance with the approved plot plan.
Moving Forward With West Moberly First Nations
Our Prince George team is looking forward to ongoing collaboration and continued growth with West Moberly First Nations. As requested, they will be returning to the site in the near future to modify the building after WMFN council determines the exact number of required office spaces.
